Who is Global Interactive Fitness? G.I.F. is the creation of George Yates and Rob Peterson, two elite athletes who saw a need for a "comfortable" exercise environment designed around the needs of the member.Having worked in a "big box" gym since the 90's, they realized that the usual excuses why members don't use the gym or are motivated for success were linked more to "environmental" factors than not having enough time to exercise.
There's a good reason why people are intimidated when they come into a gym, says George. Gyms are the creation of a bodybuilder mentality, not of a "Jane and Joe" mindset. Rob and I have trained hundreds of clients; we were told many times that if we were not there to guide or make them feel "comfortable", there is no way they would show up, even if they knew what to do.
We don’t expect the average member/client to train like us, says Rob; so why would we expect them to exercise in an environment that’s not suited to them? It's like putting a square peg in a round hole-the "fit" will never be right. We figured that designing another facility like the one we were involved in was just another "been there, done that" syndrome that wouldn't accomplish the goals we set out for ourselves. We want a place that people want to come to, not "have" to come to.We had to take a leadership role and do things differently; the result is the creation of the world's first Interactive Exercise Facility.
